Innovative design
Pocket springs are an integral part of the Millbrook Signature Luxury. However, the rule of ‘quality over quantity’ is one that they take very seriously. While the king-size model boasts 14,000 pocket springs, these are used to the very best of their capability. The supportive foundation is set with a bed of 2,000 full-size springs. Free to move autonomously, they help distribute the sleeper’s weight and respond according to weight and movement. However, for premium cushioning and comfort, this mattress sports a further 12,000 smaller contouring pocket springs. These react to even the smallest changes in position, helping to keep the spine in alignment and take the weight from pressure points, such as the ankles and knees. In addition, this use of pocket springs reduces motion transfer to an absolute minimum. If you and/or your partner are prone to shifting position in your sleep, they ensure that the other bedfellow will remain undisturbed.
The ideal environment for sleep
Comfort is an essential ingredient in achieving a refreshing night’s sleep. To this end, the Millbrook Signature Luxury is packed with the best in natural fillers, including Fine English Cotton, locally-sourced Hampshire Wool, sumptuous cashgora, and moisture-controlling silk fibres. They all provide increased levels of comfort and luxury, as well as acting as an in-bed climate control system. The natural cotton moves moisture away from the sleeper and is supremely breathable, helping them to remain cool on warmer nights. By contrast, the Hampshire Wool, although equally breathable, traps warm air so that the sleeper feels snug when the mercury is at the lower end of the scale. The silk fibres add an extra level of moisture-wicking to the mattress, ensuring it is inhospitable to allergens that favour damp environments. In contrast, the cashgora adds a final layer of supreme indulgence to the mattress’ cushioning qualities.

When it comes to developing a signature dish, a chef will ensure that no detail is overlooked. When it comes to the Signature Luxury mattress, Millbrook have done just the same. The side-stitching has been applied using traditional techniques to keep all the chemical-free fillers in alignment, and help the mattress retain its shape. Turning handles have been stitched into place to make seasonal turning of the mattress that much easier. Because it’s a double-sided mattress, it’s been packed with natural fillers on both sides, and the whole thing is finished in a layer of viscose cotton. Silky-soft, it’s fixed into place with traditional wool tufting.

The mattress has reinforced edges, so that the full sleep surface can be used. This means more sleeping space – which is usually lost in conventional, less edge-stable mattresses.
Vents which allow air to flow in and out of the mattress are mounted on the sides. These vents help to keep the air within fresh and cool.
Individual personal sleeping zones mean that you won’t be disturbed if your partner rolls or moves, as you won’t feel their motion. There’s also no tendency to roll towards the middle of the mattress.
Flag-stitched handles are attached to the sides of the mattress to assist in turning or rotating.
The mattress has fillings on both sides. Double-sided mattresses need to be turned regularly to keep them in good condition.
This mattress has been hand stitched on the borders, which creates a firmer edge on pocket sprung mattresses. This is a very expensive process, only done on top quality mattresses.
Tufts help to secure the luxury fillings in place, helping the mattress retain it’s fullness and plumpness over time.
