Millbrook mattresses use pocket springs and a unique zonal edge system to create a perfect sleeping surface. The Millbrook Prime Ortho Silver incorporates up to 1400 pocket springs, each individually sewn into fabric pockets. These allow the springs to respond to changes in weight and pressure on an individual level for a bespoke sleeping experience. This encourages correct spinal alignment for back-sleepers, but for those who prefer to sleep on their sides, it reduces pressure on the bonier points, such as the elbows, hips, and knees. For added firmness and the prevention of ‘roll off,’ the zonal edge system reinforces the mattress. This comprises two rows of firmer pocket springs at the sides of the mattress and also helps to minimise motion transfer.
Tried and tested techniques
To prevent ‘roll out’ and sagging, each Millbrook mattress is hand-stitched at the top and bottom of each side. The Millbrook Prime Ortho Silver boasts two rows of side-stitching using traditional techniques, involving the best twine and some very long needles. In addition to providing peerless edge support, these rows help keep all the natural fillers in alignment and extend the mattress’s lifespan. To this end, it has been wrapped in a layer of sumptuous viscose before being covered with a layer of Egyptian Cotton. The viscose allows the mattress to breathe, and its moisture-wicking qualities combine to create an inhospitable environment for allergens, such as dust mites and fungal spores. Equally breathable and chemical-free, the Egyptian Cotton offers high-end comfort and durability. This has been hand-tufted using woollen tufts to keep the sleeping surface level and plush.
