Holding up to 8,000 pocket springs – each nested by hand – the mattress offers bespoke, sensitive, and reactive levels of support. With each spring free to move independently of the others, the slightest movements are reactively cushioned. However, to make the sleep experience truly indulgent, 6,000 of these springs are smaller, contouring coils. Set on a bed of full-size springs, these deal with the finer points of your lying position and help to distribute the sleeper’s weight evenly across the sleeping surface. In addition, this system helps to reduce motion transfer between sleepers so, even if your bedfellow likes to change position every five minutes, you can sleep undisturbed.
The ideal environment for sleep
Delivering another dimension of comfort, the Millbrook Signature Superior is filled with luxury, chemical-free fillers, including Fine English Cotton, locally-sourced Hampshire Wool, and opulent cashgora fibres. While they all add up to create a dreamy sleeping surface, they also have individual functions. The cotton fibres help ‘wick’ moisture away from the sleeper while creating a breathable environment. During the warmer months, these help to keep the sleeper cool. During the colder months, the wool fibres trap layers of warm air to bring the mattress’ temperature up to the appropriate levels. Cashgora, a cross between cashmere and angora, is a luxury natural fibre that adds a layer of cloud-like cushioning. As an added extra, the Millbrook Signature Superior also contains moisture-controlling silk fibres to keep the mattress fresh and hygienic.

The side-stitching is sewn in using traditional techniques and expert craftsmanship to strengthen the mattress in all the right places. The unique Millbrook zonal edge system ensures that the edges remain firm, there’s no potential for sagging, and that couples don’t unwittingly roll together. Because it’s a double-sided mattress, it’s been packed with natural fillers on both sides, and handles have been stitched in to make turning over that much easier. The icing on this sumptuous cake is the luxurious layer of viscose cotton that envelops it. Silky-soft, it’s fixed into place with traditional wool tufting.

The mattress has reinforced edges, so that the full sleep surface can be used. This means more sleeping space – which is usually lost in conventional, less edge-stable mattresses.
Vents which allow air to flow in and out of the mattress are mounted on the sides. These vents help to keep the air within fresh and cool.
Individual personal sleeping zones mean that you won’t be disturbed if your partner rolls or moves, as you won’t feel their motion. There’s also no tendency to roll towards the middle of the mattress.
Flag-stitched handles are attached to the sides of the mattress to assist in turning or rotating.
The mattress has fillings on both sides. Double-sided mattresses need to be turned regularly to keep them in good condition.
This mattress has been hand stitched on the borders, which creates a firmer edge on pocket sprung mattresses. This is a very expensive process, only done on top quality mattresses.
